How Does Your Garden Grow?

I've been so busy at my job lately that I've neglected a lot of things I wanted to do before summer ends. One thing I've tried to keep up on is my vegetable garden, which I planted more for fun than for feeding the family. Last year I had a good crop of tomatoes, a few peppers, and three or four watermelons. This year I've got a lot of tomatoes again, peppers, broccoli, a few green beans, a couple of watermelons(which grew on their own from last year's leftovers), and pumpkins... enormous pumpkins. I planted the giant kind of pumpkin just for the heck of it, thinking that even if they did survive they wouldn't get to be all that big, but somehow they've thrived and have vines that reach well out of the garden and into the yard. The package said they could get to be 300 lbs, but I didn't really believe that. Now I have a dozen or more, and the largest one is about 40 lbs right now, with another 2 months of growing to do. Now that I see they're going to get that big I have a problem.... what to do with them. Lots of pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving maybe, and giant jack-o-lanterns. Overall it looks like I'll have a lot of picking to do when everything ripens. I guess maybe gardening is something I'm halfway decent at...the other half easily being recognized by all the rocks and weeds which are also growing merrily in my little garden get-a-way.
